Global & Multi-Brand Careers Site

UX Design Lead

This project consolidated seven brands, four international markets, and four separate careers sites into a single/unified site. The new site allowed job seekers to search and filter all job opportunities across the organization, based on individual work preferences, in one place — a first in the company’s history.

Why create a unified careers site?

Qurate Retail Group (the parent brand for QVC, HSN, Zulily, and more) was newly created and needed to share its culture, values, and opportunities to help attract top talent. Multiple loosely connected sub-brand careers sites made it difficult (if not impossible) to share that story cohesively; and candidates could not browse positions across the organization in one place.

  • Share the corporate/parent employer brand story.
  • Connect the candidate experience across the entire org.
  • Deliver all job opportunities in a single location.

Differentiating the sub-brands.

Each sub-brand was developed with a unique landing page, displaying their colors, imagery, content, navigation, and job search; while maintaining employer branding through shared typography and messaging. The template-based design allowed for quick additions and removals of sub-brands as needed (which happened more frequently than anticipated).

  • Branded landing pages.
  • Tailored navigation.
  • Employer brand integration.
  • Scalable design.

Creating unified design specifications.

Delivering design specs for multiple sub-brands presented a unique challenge. Seven separate style guides occasionally led to conflicting guidance. To help streamline the process and guarantee visual consistency and accuracy, I developed a consolidated design document to align the standards. I collaborated closely with all of the brand teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure buy-in across the organization.

  • Collaborate with design leads.
  • Resolve conflicting styles guides.
  • Simplify specs for a singe use.

Crafting the mobile experience.

The new careers site needed to do more than consolidate our brands. It also had to reach top talent wherever and whenever they were searching for jobs. I refined the mobile experience and optimized it to meet candidates on their terms…to meet candidates where and when they performed job searches and how they preferred to explore those opportunities.

  • Optimize the mobile experience.
  • Meet candidates where, when, and how they prefer seek jobs.

Launching the site.

To support the internal and external launch of the new careers site, I developed a series of branded screenshots of the system. These images were used in articles on our corporate intranet, email newsletters, and formatted for external channels such as LinkedIn to generate awareness.

Taking a look back.

The launch of Qurate Retail Group’s first-ever global careers site (spanning all brands, markets, and locations) resulted from years of planning and nine months of execution. The site successfully unified global job listings under one platform and finally told a cohesive employer brand story. It remained in use for over five years before its next major overhaul and achieved the goal of delivering a consistent candidate experience worldwide.

  • All global job listings in one place.
  • Cohesive employer brand story.
  • Consistent candidate experience worldwide.
